Hundreds of new K-3 lesson activities support math and literacy curriculum
DENVER – October 27, 2004 – SMART Technologies Inc. announces that more than 7,500 classroom-ready digital resources are now available on the EDCompass™ website, an online community for educators using SMART products (www.edcompass.smarttech.com). More than 1,600 lesson activities created by teachers from SMART and around the world are available for immediate use with SMART products, including hundreds of new activities for enhancing K-3 math and literacy class activities. The lesson activities are fully editable, allowing for teachers to add to them or customize them for their specific needs. Created in Notebook™ whiteboarding software and SMART Ideas® concept-mapping software, the lesson activities cover a wide range of subjects, including geography, history, social studies, science and physical education. Activities are organized by subtopic, key word, subject area and grade level for easy searching.
Also featured are 900 teacher-evaluated interactive resources, classroom-friendly websites and other online resources, more than 5,000 curriculum-related clip-art images and 400 background templates organized by topic. New gallery collections (themed libraries of images for use in developing digital materials) include character and scenery images for telling fairy tales and nursery rhymes, graph-paper-like grids and colored blocks for explaining fractions, Venn diagrams for teaching sets and subsets, and tracing outlines for learning to print letters and numbers. Additionally, resource CDs featuring lesson activities, clip art, Web resources and applications, such as SMART's Speller and Number Cruncher software, are now available to EDCompass E-News subscribers.
“SMART is committed to helping educators make effective use of our products to improve student learning and outcomes,” says Nancy Knowlton, SMART's president and co-CEO. “The additional resources on EDCompass provide teachers with even more digital content for immediate classroom use and help them make the best use of the limited time they have for lesson preparation.”
